Christian Ickler
PhD candidate in the Computer Vision Group, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Christian is a PhD candidate in the Computer Vision Group at riedrich Schiller University Jena, led by Prof. Dr. Joachim Denzler. He earned his master’s degree in Computational and Data Science, with a specialization in machine learning, in 2024. In cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), his doctoral research aims to develop multimodal models for fine-grained visual classification. In particular, he focuses on integrating textual descriptions as additional cues to improve vision-based methods for distinguishing subtle visual differences between similar-looking classes, such as moth species or aircraft models.
