Professor for Artificial Intelligence in Neural Systems Imaging at Friedrich Schiller University Jena
Thomas Wolfers is the Carl Zeiss Professor for Artificial Intelligence in Neural Systems Imaging at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where he leads the Laboratory for Mental Health Mapping. His research integrates large-scale neuroimaging, machine learning, and computational psychiatry to understand individual differences in mental and neurological disorders. He is a PI in the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) and is widely known for advancing normative modeling, biomarker discovery, and multimodal analyses across populations and the lifespan. Before moving to Jena, he held positions at the University of Tübingen (GER), Oxford (UK), Oslo (NO), Nijmegen (NL) and has contributed to international initiatives in imaging neuroscience. His work aims to build collaborative bridges between machine learning, neuroscience, and clinical practice.
